One of the things that we offer here at Transformed Ministries is one to one chat. This may be for those who want to talk about their same sex attraction in light of their Christian faith, or indeed, it may be for those who are seeking to understand what God says about same sex attraction for themselves. These conversations are great and have underlined for me how personal our faith is. As we explore our own feelings, we all process in different ways, and we all bring our varied experiences to the table.
I've never seen our role here at Transformed Ministries as one which dictates the path to follow; rather I see it as one of being a sounding board; where feelings and questions can be openly raised with someone who truly understands the dilemma of the other.
Our relationship with God takes time to build, in the same way that any strong friendship develops over a period of time. When we first come to Him, he doesn't force us to change every aspect of our life immediately; if he had done that for me, I don't think I would have made it this far! But as God’s Word says, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. As our faith develops, we learn how to draw on the strength of Christ, and that helps us to work through the sinful patterns that we may have developed in the past.
My experience is that God is faithful to those promises, there is nothing that he cannot help us overcome, and no sin that he will allow us to continue to live in when we wholeheartedly open every door of our heart to his scrutiny and to his love. If I'm honest, God is still working in my life, I am a work in progress and I've learned to see that that's OK.
